SUMMARY
This district is the commercial, social and governmental hub built mostly between 1855 and 1890 in conjunction with the milling industry and rail center. More than 150 two- and three- story commercial buildings were constructed of locally produced cream brick in Italianate, Romanesque Revival, and Queen Anne styles, as well as vernacular buildings with influence of popular architectural styles.
