SUMMARY
This relatively intact early Yankee settlement was constructed by American-born pioneers prior to 1900. The Village of Rural in the Town of Dayton includes 36 vernacular form residences having Greek Revival and Italianate influences. The Crystal River meanders through the district and four historic bridges cross it. Located well off the beaten path, this area is as charming as a picture postcard.
