Two Boys in Street, Beekman Quarters
Two boys stand in a wet dirt road in the foreground. In the background is a house with a pile of objects in the yard, including an automobile, a door, and tires. "One tenant collects junk and neither he nor landlord will oblige other tenants by removing it." Beekman Quarters housed 81 people in 23 buildings. None of the houses in the neighborhood had running water or gas/electric heating; the neighborhood had 15 outdoor toilets and 11 outdoor water hydrants. |
