Palmer & Co's Addition to the City of Milwaukee

Palmer & Co's Addition to the City of Milwaukee | Map or Atlas | Wisconsin Historical Society
Caption reads: "THE LOTS embraced in the proposed Addition, are situated in the Fourth Ward of the City of Milwaukee, about twenty minutes walk from Spring-St. Bridge. They occupy an elevated and healthy position, command a fine view of the Harbor, Lake, Rail Roads, &c., and are on streets which will soon become the most important avenues of the City. Spring Street is already graded and walks planked to this point. Another and important feature in the bill of attractions which these lots present, is the terms upon which they are offered. To Clerks, and young men just setting out in life, Mechanics and Traders of small means, an opportunity is presented of obtaining a property and home of their own, which, in a few years, will make them independent. Our terms are: Five dollars upon every hundred of purchase money in advance, and three dollars upon every hundred, per month, thereafter, until paid, without interest. We also propose making a fair grade of streets, without expense to the lot-holders. The price of lots, except in blocks 1 and 2, will range from two to four hundred dollars. Every man who is ambitious to own his home, has now an opportunity. Enquire of E.M. JOSLIN, No. 1 Kneeland's Block." Streets running east to west begin with "SPRING ST." and end with "FOWLER ST". Streets north to south begin with "GIFFORD ST." and end with "WASHINGTON ST".
