per an email from Nick Hoffman 1-14-2013: "The grandstands and building in the background are easily identified in Appleton as the County Fair and Driving Park. We have several photographs of horse and motorcycle races from that same angle. According to the Pneumatic and Appleton Crescent, Lee Richardson was the only stunt rider to perform at the 1896 meet in Appleton. There were no other big bicycle events (or even small ones) held in the Appleton. Otherwise the park was used for horse racing." |
