This hand-colored map is a 1911 copy of a map drawn by Gaspard-Joseph Chaussegros de Léry in 1730 showing the Fox River from its mouth at Green Bay to Lake Butte des Mortes, here labeled Petit Lac des Renards, in Winnebago County. Indian villages, rapids, and the French fort at Green Bay are indicated. The Fox River is labeled Rivière des Renards and Lake Winnebago is labeled Lac des Puants. |
