Where General Reynolds Was Killed
| Stereograph of McPherson's Woods, where General John Reynolds, commanding the First Corps of which Wisconsin's 2nd, 6th, and 7th regiments were a part, was killed. This card was one of several Brady stereographs owned by Lucius Fairchild of the 2nd Wisconsin that was purchased at the Brady studio, probably in 1863. The importance of this image to Fairchild is clear. Not only did it represent the area where Reynolds died, but it was also near there that Fairchild was wounded, an injury that resulted in the amputation of his arm. |

| The supposed site of General Reynolds' death is in dispute. Either on East McPherson Ridge or West McPherson Ridge. The woods in the area have multiple names, McPherson's Woods/Reynold's Woods/Herbst Woods, located near the McPherson farm. |
