Map or Atlas
Apostle Islands and Harbor of Bayfield and Its Surroundings

Asaph Whittlesey arrived in Ashland in 1854, one of the earliest of the settlers who hoped the area would grow and make their fortunes. He drew this map of the Apostle Islands in 1871, extolling Bayfield's fine harbor and its attractions as a summer travel destination. |
