A bird's-eye view illustration of the Northern Electrical Manufacturing Company. The company was founded in 1895 by four Madison businessmen, Conrad M. Conradson, Arthur O’Neill Fox, William F. Vilas and D. Jackson. It was located in the block bounded by East Wilson Street, South Dickinson Street, Railroad Street and Thornton Avenue. They built electric motors, generators, and other machinery and eventually became part of General Electric.
