This 1952 map of the northern parts of Bayfield and Douglas counties, Wisconsin, shows points established by E.T. Sweet in 1877, road points confirmed by Sweet in 1877, road points confirmed by the Superior Times in 1876, roads confirmed by Whittlesey in 1860, Jerrard in 1943, or by early Bayfield maps, the probable courses of roads, and possible alternate roads shown on later maps. Also shown are lakes and rivers in the area. This map appeared in the author's 1960 book La Pointe, village outpost. |
