The text reads: "International trucks are helping build the intercounty bridge across the Susquehanna between Columbia and Wrightsville, Pa. When completed, this bridge will be the largest multiple-arch concrete bridge in the world. Twenty-eight arches will support the 7,374-foot bridge, which will carry a 38-foot highway. A fleet of nine heavy-duty Internationals, owned by A.M. Rudisill, of York, Pa., is hauling the 175,000 barrels of cement used on this project. The round trip from the cement plant to the job is 28 miles. Recently this International fleet hauled 2,463 barrels of cement in 24 hours, the trucks stopping only for gas and oil and to change drivers at stated intervals. On these runs fuel and oil consumption has been unusually low." |
