Farmers Hauling Goods in Columbus Wagon

Two farmers standing in the bed of a wooden Columbus wagon loaded with groceries and other goods. The original caption reads: "One of the reasons why Alabama is in her present financial conditions, is that so many farmers raise nothing but cotton and buy all of their vegetables, and other food stuffs at the store. It is also very noticeable that it usually takes two strong, working men to make the trip to town for a few rations, as one would get lonesome on the road. This wagon contained some flour, and groceries, destined for a farm of 320 acres 28 miles from Jasper." |
