Temporary Quarters for New Comers From Indiana
A promotional card advertising farming land in northern Wisconsin. The image depicts four settler men, their two horses, and their dog outside a temporary home in northern Wisconsin. The caption below the image reads, "TEMPORARY QUARTERS FOR NEW COMERS FROM INDIANA. — Persons desirous of moving to either Price or Taylor Counties are apt to see difficulties ahead which usually disappear before they are reached. New comers have always been able to find temporary quarters where they can stop comfortably during the time necessary you arrange for permanent quarters. Messers John H. Wallace and Timothy Woodhouse of Logansport, Indiana came to Price County in advance of their families and found this cabin located near the lands which they purchased. This they occupied for a time but now have comfortable dwellings upon their own premises. There families are now with them, and although they have lived in Price County less than a year they are making more than a comfortable line and are ready to welcome all new settlers to their neighborhood." |
