Hartford Canning Company

Site of Libby McNeil and Libby canning company. In 1968, workers in Hartford staged a walkout to support Obreros Unidos (United Workers) to show dissatisfaction with company domination of the local union. This photograph is a part of Wisconsin-native David Giffey's series "Struggle for Justice," images from the migrant farm worker struggle including an independent organizing effort in Wisconsin and the nationwide grape boycott movement started by Cesar Chavez of United Farm Workers during the 1960s and 1970s.
