Ladies Ideal Band
Studio portrait in front of a painted backdrop of the Ladies Ideal Band, in uniform and holding their instruments which include drums and various brass instruments. Text from an article in the Mauston Star, July 4th, 1946, "Band Belles of the 80's - The members of Mauston's famous Ladies Ideal Band included: Front Row (left to right) Alice Stewart, Ella Schall Van Wie, and Jessie Grimmer Heath. Second Row: Inez Wetherby, Emily Bury Earle, Adelaide Parker Winsor and Dora Wells Ramsey. Third Row: Nora Hall Dixon, Emma Priest Hinton, Nettie Priest Lyon, Grace Baldwin Price, Rosabelle Carter Winchell and Bertha Stewart. Unfortunately Jessie Hinton Bunnell and Emma Anderson Bradley, a founder of the band, as well as Mattie Sykes Bowes, and Agnes Wetherby Boorman are not shown in the picture. Although only Mrs. Bradley was married at the time, married names are given, where it is appropriate, to avoid confusion." |
