Rutted Road and Bridge Over River

A deeply rutted dirt road leads to a bridge over a river. Buildings are on both sides of the river. Bluffs and hills with trees are in the background. This image was entered in a 1898 competition sponsored by the League of American Wheelman to identify the nation's worst roads conditions. The purpose of the competition was to gather evidence of the need for better roads. |
