The Birches Cottage at Nature Lovers Paradise

Exterior view of a cottage surrounded by birch trees at Nature Lovers Paradise on Jackson Lake near Grand View. Text with the photograph reads: "The BIRCHES – Each cottage is within fifty feet of the waters edge. (I mention this as I have seen LAKESHORE cottages that were over a half mile from the lakeshore). We furnish free firewood as shown in this photos; the wooden blocks are sawed right length; but the guest has to split them up; each cottage is furnish with an axe for this purpose. We have no garages for cars; but guest can drive his car up to the side of his cottage. Rain don’t hurt a car that is closed up; and there is sufficient shade to protect the car from the sun that does the damage. Each cottage has a small but good 4 hole cast iron wood stove equipped with hot water reservoir. Water for washing is taken from the lake; water for drinking and cooking from a pump. Besides regular cooking utensils each cottage has an enamel roaster, and cast iron pancake griddle and cast iron waffle iron (did you have these things at the last place you were at?)." Located within the Chequamegon National Forest, Jackson Lake is a 142-acre drainage lake with a navigable outlet channel to Namakagon Lake – which is a 3,227 acre drainage lake at the headwaters of the Namakagon River in Bayfield County. |
