Otto Axel Risum
Vignetted head and shoulders cabinet card portrait of Otto Axel Risum, an Adjutant in the 15th Wisconsin Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Spring Valley, Wisconsin. On October 16, 1861, he was enlisted as a sergeant in Company G, 15th Wisconsin Infantry and mustered into service on December 13, 1861, in Madison, Wisconsin. From October 1863 to February 1864, he was acting sergeant major. On March 21, 1864, at Strawberry Plaines, Tennessee, he was promoted to sergeant major and transferred to the non-commissioned staff. On October 15, 1864, he was further promoted to the rank of adjutant of the regiment. He was mustered out of service on February 10, 1865, at Chattanooga, Tennessee. |
