The old elementary school is in the background on the far left.<p>“The Drummond State Graded – High School. In the summer of 1922, construction was started on a new two-story brick school. This was to be a combination grade and a full four year high school.  … Some difficulty was experienced in digging the basement, as the soil was all red clay and the hole kept filling with water. Construction was carried on throughout the summer and fall and into the winter. … The contractor was the Weaver Construction Company of Owen, Wisconsin.   Once completed, the school had a fairly large gym, boys and girls shower rooms, a lunch room, a kitchen and one class room in the lower level. … On the first floor there were six classrooms and boys and girls rest rooms.  On the second floor were four class rooms, a large assembly hall with library and two office rooms. Alan Born managed the family jewelry store in Ashland, Wisconsin. He also took hundreds of photographs of numerous locations in northern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, producing postcards from many of the images.
