ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The original typewritten caption reads: "Automotive transportation has been a boon to the farmer in a thousand different ways. It has particularly facilitated the distribution of the many things that help to make life more comfortable and worth while. Even in the distribution of library books, a movement is afoot by which specially constructed motor trucks will be the means of taking veritable branch libraries to the farmers' doors and thus allowing them and their families to select books from a variety of titles. These books, by the way, will come from nearby city libraries, the county governments contracting with the libraries for the extra service and, of course, appropriating certain amounts for it. The necessity of building and maintaining separate county libraries is thus obviated. The International Harvester truck shown is provided with shelves at the sides for books and side doors open up and down as illustrated, thus permitting easy selection of books. A simple folding desk, fitted in the cab, expedites the charging of books to patrons. Ample room for boxes containing the extra book stock for shelves that become empty as the business of the day proceeds is also provided. The truck shown is owned by the Evansville (Indiana) Public Library for the distribution of books in outlying districts."
