Adolf F. St. Sure Lindsfelt | Photograph | Wisconsin Historical Society
Three-quarter length studio portrait of Adolf F. St. Sure Lindsfelt, a surgeon in the 15th Wisconsin Infantry, in uniform. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20 and 7: He resided in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. On September 28, 1861, he was commissioned as second assistant surgeon and mustered into service on November 18, 1862, in Louisville, Kentucky with the 12th Wisconsin Infantry. Because each regiment was limited to have one surgeon and one assistant surgeon, he was mustered out of 12th Wisconsin Infantry shortly after being entered in on the muster rolls. He was promoted to surgeon on May 26, 1862, and transferred to be the surgeon attached with the Wisconsin 8th Light Artillery Battery. He reported for duty with the Wisconsin 8th Light Artillery Battery on June 6, 1863, and was detached to serve as the surgeon in charge of the Union hospital at Bardstown, Kentucky. On February 20, 1864, he joined the Wisconsin 15th Infantry. On August 15, 1864 he was detached to serve as the brigade surgeon.
