David Mckee
Quarter-length steel engraved portrait of David McKee, a Lieutenant colonel in the 15th Wisconsin Infantry, in uniform. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volumes 8 and 20: He resided in Lancaster, Wisconsin. On April 22, 1861, he was commissioned as a captain of Company C, 2nd Wisconsin Infantry by the governor of Wisconsin and was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin at age 32. He participated in the Battle of Bull Run on July 18 and 21, 1861. On March 24, 1862, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the 15th Wisconsin Infantry. He was killed on December 31, 1862, during the battle at Stone River, Tennessee. |
