Joseph Arthur's (1848-1906) melodrama, set in Afghanistan and featuring the British Eleventh Hussars (known as The Cherry Pickers), starred William Harcourt, Ralph Delmore and Roselle Nott. Haverly's specialized in melodramas with lower production costs and more exciting plots, but it is not recorded how well the play fared. It was made into a film in 1914 with screenplay by Betrand Sinclair and starring Jack McDonald. |
