Lake Survey Map of Lakes Island, Mason, and Chain
| A survey map of Island Lake in Bayfield County, Wisconsin, Chain Lake in Rusk and Chippewa counties, and Manson Lake in Oneida County. The maps show the depth of the lake by contour lines along with numbered depths in feet. In addition, the maps provide details regarding the lake bed composition, buildings, and shoreline vegetation. The map consists of three separate maps drawn between November 1938 and May 1939. Map one reads: "Nov. 16, 1938 ; compiled by W.P.A. dist. 2 ; traced by R.F.F.," map two reads: "February 7, 1939 ; compiled by H.K. ; traced by H.G.O. ; work agency W.P.A." and map three reads: "May 11, 1939 ; compiled by E.H. ; traced by W.P.S. ; work agency CCC." The approximate scale of the map is 1:5,280 (1 inch = 440 feet). |
