Vignetted head and shoulders studio portrait of Ole R. Dahl, a first lieutenant in Company B, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Bloomer Prairie, Wisconsin. On October 9, 1861, he enlisted in Chippewa, Wisconsin and was mustered into service at Madison, Wisconsin on February 13, 1862. He was attached to Company H, 15th Wisconsin Infantry when he was first mustered into service, holding the rank of private. In July 1862 he was transferred to the non-commissioned staff at Humboldt, Tennessee. In March 1863 he was promoted to first lieutenant and transferred to Company B, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. From the day that Company B received him, he was detached with various brigades to serve as a topographical engineer until he was taken as a prisoner of war on March 7, 1864. He was mustered out of service on March 12, 1865.
