Exhibit Case on a Factory Floor
A wooden exhibit cabinet, apparently recently constructed, on what appears to be a factory or shop floor with a work table, ladder, saw horse and wood shavings. The case includes a diorama with factory buildings, rural houses and a man with a horse-drawn grain binder. Below the diorama, text in English and French reads: "A Host of Machines. Over 2,000,000 McCormick machines are in use throughout the world, equal to the labor in harvest of 20,000,000 men." There is also a dial or clock at the top of the case with notches from one to sixty. A man is faintly visible in the background at right. The case may have been constructed for the McCormick exhibit at the 1900 Paris Exposition. |
