Wisconsin Dells Streetcar
A streetcar apparently zips along down the center of Broadway, the town's main thoroughfare. The structure with the awning (to the right of the old bank building) was occupied by Stuelke's Drug Store when this photograph was taken. This car (1116) was part of The Milwaukee Electric Railway & Light Company's fleet of interurbans built by St. Louis Car Company just before the turn of the century. While The Milwaukee Electric Railway and Light Company spread from Kenosha to Sheboygan and Burlington to Watertown, they never reached Wisconsin Dells. This is one of a vast series of fake trolley photographs published in the first decade of the 1900's. |
