Oscar Thompson
Waist-up oval portrait of Oscar Thompson, a private in Company G, 15th Wisconsin Infantry, in uniform and holding a musket across his chest. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Beloit, Wisconsin. On December 2, 1861, he enlisted in Beloit, Wisconsin and on December 13, 1861, he was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 18. On October 13, 1863, he served as a guard with a supply train. On May 27, 1864, during the fighting on Altoona Mountain, near New Hope Church, Georgia, he was killed with a shot through his head. |
