Quarter-length oval portrait of Edward Thorson [as written on the photograph backing; also written as Edward Thoreson on Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20 ("Blue Books") and published roster: Wisconsin Volunteers: War of the Rebellion (1914); also as Edward Toreson Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20 ("Red Books") and as Edward Thorsen on published roster: Rosters of Wisconsin Volunteers, Volume 1 (1886)], a private in Company I, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He held residence in Pepin, Wisconsin. On December 10, 1861, he enlisted in Pepin, Wisconsin and on December 20, 1861 he was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 26. He was mustered out of service on February 10, 1865, at Chattanooga, Tennessee. |
