This photograph was taken to accompany an article entitled "Builders of Hoover Dam Select Internationals" by L.E. Roberson, "International Trail" magazine, March 1932, pp.9-11. The caption on the photograph reads, "Looking north toward the site of Hoover Dam, which will close up the canyon to a height of over 700 feet - a solid mass of concrete 650 feet thick at its base. This also shows three of the diversion tunnels which will carry the river around the dam site during the actual construction of the dam. Out of each of these tunnels are being hauled millions of tons of rock." |
