Heat Rationing
After Pearl Harbor American diplomats and journalists were interned at the Grand Hotel in the German resort community of Bad Nauheim until their release in May 1942. Many things were rationed, including heat, but the Americans found ways to occupy themselves. This is Associated Press journalist Alvin Steinkopf wearing ear muffs, mittens, and top coat while reading in bed. |
