Journalist Robert Shaplen, facing the camera, at a bombed bridge over the Perfume River at Hue, where crowds of pedestrians and cyclists were attempting to cross. Shaplen, whose papers are part of the Archives of the Wisconsin Historical Society, was well known for his coverage of the war in Vietnam for "The New Yorker" magazine. There are coils of barbed wire in the foreground. |
