Head and shoulders oval studio portrait of Ole Totenson [as written on the photograph backing; also written as Ole Tortenson on Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20 (“Blue Books”); also as Ole Tortstenson on published rosters: Rosters of Wisconsin Volunteers, Volume 1 (1886) and Wisconsin Volunteers (1914), a sergeant in Company H, Wisconsin 15th Infantry, in uniform. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Christiana, Wisconsin. On December 15, 1861, he enlisted and was mustered into service on February 12, 1862, in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 18. On February 16, 1862, he was appointed as a corporal and on August 1, 1862 he was promoted to sergeant. He was mustered out of service on February 12, 1865, in Madison, Wisconsin. |
