Waist-up studio portrait of Andrew Anderson, a private in Company H, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20 and 18b: He resided in Onalaska, Wisconsin [credited to Neshowoc]. On January 5, 1864, he enlisted and was mustered into service in La Crosse, Wisconsin. On February 19, 1864, he was recruited and joined Company E in Knoxville, Tennessee. On December 20, 1864, he was transferred to Company H in Whiteside, Tennessee. He was temporarily attached to 24th Wisconsin Infantry on February 13, 1865. On June 10, 1865, he was transferred to Company I, 13th Wisconsin Infantry in Nashville, Tennessee. In September 1865, he was absent sick in a hospital in Victoria, Texas. No discharge papers were furnished. |
