A press release accompanying the photograph reads: "Fort Worth, Texas -- C&R Transport Company has invested $275,000 in 15 International diesel-powered highway tractors as part of a fleet replacement program, it was announced by President Ray Rollen. The new trucks are International model DCOF-405 six-wheelers rated at 79,000 pounds gross combination weight. They will pull 8,200-gallon aluminum tankers on petroleum runs throughout Texas, Colorado, New Mexico and Oklahoma. Cargos will include gasoline and aviation fuels for wholesale storage points and air bases. Specifications of the new models include 220-horsepower diesel engine, 80-inch sleeper cab, 147-1/2 inch wheelbase, ten-speed transmission, 34,000-pound bogie and sliding fifth wheel. C&R Transport's fleet of 125 trucks last year traveled 11,250,000 miles. Its annual business volume was $2.5 million. Dick Zachary is vice-president of the firm, and Tom Rollen is secretary-treasurer. MT-2041. 5/27/60." |
