The original typewritten caption reads: "Model S International motor truck operated by the Blue Valley Creamery Company, Detroit, Michigan. This company makes use of ten Model S Internationals and one Model 103 International in Detroit. It also utilizes four Fords and two Federal-Knights in Detroit. The Model S trucks are employed in making deliveries of butter to Detroit retail grocers, etc. The Model 103 is used to haul cream from the railway stations. All the Model S trucks operate over regular routes in the city streets and on pavements. Each of the Model S trucks averages 18,000 to 20,000 miles per year. The longest city run is 52 miles and the shortest 15 miles. The Model S's are provided with our panel body, and are painted very attractively. Mr. Pratt, in charge of deliveries for the Blue Valley Creamery Company in Detroit, estimates the gas and oil expenses on each Model S truck at 4 cents per mile. The company is well satisfied with International service and states that its excellent service is one of the chief reasons for buying International motor trucks. The Blue Valley garage takes care of oil, gas, etc. Our service station makes all repairs, and makes regular inspections. (A copy of Mr. Yates' letter requesting the Blue Valley Creamery Company to deliver six Model S motor trucks for regular inspection is attached to the questionnaire blanks.) In Detroit the Blue Valley Company has paid $572.86 for repairs since January 1, 1924. One of the drivers declared that he liked the International motor truck and that it is the best he has used. He said that he has had no trouble and no delay, and he said it is easy to handle. He also went on to remark that the truck gets under way quickly, turns short, and is easy to park on city streets. He said that he averages about eighty-five stops a day." |
