Jordan grew up in Alabama, but moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin after World War II. The Wisconsin Historical Museum has a set of pajamas and carved slippers that Jordan B. Getts, Jr. (1926-1972) acquired when he was a sailor in the Pacific during World War II and gave to his future wife Esther Sauer (1926- ) in 1945. See museum collection 2010.142.
