Demolition of the Dome
A crane lowers the flag pole from the third Wisconsin State Capitol as the first step in demolition of the dome. An iron eagle is perched atop the flag pole and is at the right end of the pole. It is now on display at the Wisconsin Historical Society headquarters building. The capitol building suffered severe damage in a fire in 1904. Demolition was carried out in stages, coordinated with the building of the new capitol. |
