Hans Hanson
Quarter-length oval studio portrait of Hans Hanson, a corporal in Company G, 15th Wisconsin Infantry, in uniform. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Beloit, Wisconsin. On November 22, 1861, he enlisted in Beloit, Wisconsin and was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin on December 12, 1861, at the age of 29. He was appointed to the rank of corporal on April 25, 1864. On May 27, 1864, he was severely wounded in the leg during the battle at New Hope Church, Georgia and was sent to a hospital in New Albany, Indiana. He was mustered out of service on January 14, 1865, in Madison, Wisconsin because the term of his service had expired. |
