To My Valentine
Valentine's Day postcard with two women peering out of the doorway of a building looking at two Cupids with a donkey that is refusing to move. One woman is wearing a pink dress with lace. One Cupid is pulling the reins of the donkey, and the other is riding the donkey, using a switch to persuade it to go forward. Both Cupids are wearing arrow quivers. The donkey has a saddle, bridle with red tassels, a bell and several baskets of arrows. A verse at the top reads "Love will never bear enslaving, Summer garments suit him best: Bliss itself is not worth having, If we're by compulsion blest. "Chromolithograph, embossed and printed in Germany. |
