William Burgeson
Waist-up oval studio portrait of William Burgeson, a private in Company E, 15th Wisconsin Infantry in uniform with musket across lap. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in York, Wisconsin. On November 02, 1861, he enlisted at Green County, Wisconsin and was mustered into service at Madison, Wisconsin on November 9, 1861, at the age of 20. He was wounded during the battle at Stone River, Tennessee and was sent to a field hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee on September 15, 1863. He died on November 19, 1863, in Nashville, Tennessee of disease. |
