The original typewritten caption reads: "Community Homes. View along road in Orange Township, taken from point in front of church of Brethren. First house on right is residence of Thomas Hume; second house on right, that of S. Fike. Barn and silo beyond houses, belong to W.O. Tannreuther. House on left is residence of janitor of church. Beyond this residence is seen portion of $50,000 consolidated school in course of construction. At rear first house on right is seen cement block house in which is located well and engine furnishing water system to both houses. At rear of second house is septic tank providing sewer system for both houses. Residence cost $4,500 or $5,000 each and are homes of retired farmers who did not want to move to town.
