Iver Monson
Quarter-length oval studio portrait of Monson Iver, a private in Company B, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Christiana, Wisconsin. On January 1, 1862, he enlisted and was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 18. On February 28, 1862, he was at home sick and since he had not been heard from was reported as deserted. He was gained from desertion on November 19, 1863, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was tried by court-martial for being absent without leave, found guilty and sentenced to forfeit all payment and allowances from November 1, 1861, to September 1, 1863, per General Order No. 16. |
