Compliments of the Season, U.S. Mail
Holiday card given by a mail carrier to a patron. An old fashioned horse-drawn buggy is paused at a mailbox on a rural road. This image is within a wreath made of holly and berries. Inside of the bow beneath the wreath is the text "U.S. Mail," and inside the wreath "Compliments of the Season." A five stanza poem called "the Pennies In the Box" is on the back (not shown). It describes the disgust of letter carriers having to dig pennies out of the mailboxes because the patron did not purchase a stamp or the correct stamp. Chromolithograph. Personalized using letterpress. |
