Ole Black
Waist-up seated oval studio portrait of Ole Back, a sergeant in Company A, 15th Wisconsin Infantry, in uniform. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Chicago, Illinois. On October 11, 1861, he enlisted and was eventually mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin on November 15, 1861. During the Battle of Stone River in Tennessee, Ole Back was severely wounded and was initially sent to a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, but was eventually sent to another facility near Murfreesboro, Tennessee where he died on January 16, 1863, of the wounds received. |
