McCormick Works Lumberyard

Elevated view of lumberyard at International Harvester's McCormick Works as seen from across the water. The original caption reads as follows: "We think of farm machines as made essentially of steel and iron, and yet surrounding this wood shop at McCormick Works are 39 acres of lumberyard, in which is stored more than 50,000,000 feet of lumber, all of it being thoroughly air-dried before used." McCormick Works was located at Blue Island Avenue and Western Avenue in the Chicago subdivision called "Canalport." The factory was owned by the McCormick Harvesting Machine company before 1902. |
