Original caption reads "You will no doubt have, by this time, some photographs that were taken by our engineering department and sent to you through Mr. N.C. Donnelly. The farm on which these photographs were taken is owned and operated by Sheldons LTD., three miles south of Galt, Ontario. The land in this territory is rolling and inclined to be gravely. Mr. Sheldon, Jr., is a graduate of the Guelph Agricultural College and is very enthusiastic over the quality and also the simplicity of our machines. He has lately purchased through our London branch a No. 30 Farmall tractor with rubber tires, with which he is very pleased. Also, he is using a no.2 harrow plow with seeding attachment this year which he advises gave him wonderful results. He also purchased this year a tractor binder, corn binder, cultivators, plows, hammer mill, disk harrows, and other implements. He has recently built a $20,000.00 fireproof barn and remodeled a magnificent stone house equipping it with the latest improvements. This barn contains a cow stable which is sanitary in every respect with hot and cold water throughout the entire stable, and finished in a very expensive enamel plaster. He also maintains a Jersey Herd which they claim is second to none in Canada. I was advised by Mr. Hancock, who is one of the directors, that it is their intention to go into corn raising very extensively and at the present time they have three extra-large silos available. You will note in the photograph of corn being cut by our corn binder that the corn was a very fine crop. In this photograph showing plowing you will note that he is using a No. 8 little genius plow equipped with western bottoms using chilled shares which he feels is giving him a very satisfactory job. I am mentioning this here so that you can realize more fully the power that the No. 30 Farmall has got to handle this plow under this hilly condition. A plow demonstration was held on Mr. Sheldon's farm just recently in which he entered his tractor plow and also gave a demonstration of his harrow plow. Mr. Sheldon has extended to our company the very cordial invitation at any time to try out any machines or take any photographs that you may require in your department. O. Knapman." |
