Old Abe Collector Card
Old Abe, eagle mascot of the 8th Wisconsin Regiment. Popular cards sold in great quantities as benefit items ($9 per 100), so great was this bird's fame. Old Abe is perched on a cannon with an American flag on his right side. Lithograph by L. Lipman, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, after a photograph by Curtiss "sold for the benefit of the Permanent Soldiers' Home at Milwaukee" by Mrs. H.C. Crocker. |
