The people killed in this crash were Charles Meirswa, Lawrence Plank, Max Koecher, Adam Weber, and Edward Kuske. The coroner's jury brought the verdict that chief engineer dispatcher J.P. Waldo and his assistant Mr. Luther exercised poor management in allowing the train to depart Green Bay under poor circumstances. Also, the verdict stated that Cotrell, the engineer of the excursion train, didn't apply the airbrakes quickly and effectively after answering the danger signal. |
