The original handwritten caption on the back of the photograph reads, "This mower picture was taken June 21, 1899 at Monticello, the far famed home and burial place of Thomas Jefferson - the author of the Declaration of Independence. On this farm a 6 ft. McCormick R.H. Harvester and a New 4 Mower are used to harvest the crops." The original label reads: "Print No.: 25. Size: 11 x 14. Negative Case No.: 19. Town: Monticello.
